Peru President reaffirms commitment to unite the country

13:17 | Lima, Apr. 6.

President Martin Vizcarra on Friday reaffirmed his administration's firm decision to unite the country, achieve development and inclusion, as well as "jointly move forward on the path of greatness."

According to the Head of State, the love for the homeland is an inherent value of all Peruvians. Thus, he called on citizens to do their best in order to remain on the growth path.

He went on to add said expansion must come true along with equality, security, and social well-being.

In this context, Mr. Vizcarra pointed out the same desire is what the Armed Forces and National Police show at peacekeeping missions and times of natural disasters, such as those registered last year due to Coastal El Niño phenomenon.

The Peruvian leader noted this critical situation demonstrated the dedication, courage, and patriotism of these security bodies.

Likewise, he stressed Peruvian military heroes —Miguel Grau and Francisco Bolognesi— had given their lives for the Inca country, which should inspire today's military officers to serve Peru and its people with honor.

Remarks were made during a ceremony to recognize President Martin Vizcarra as Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru.
