Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday held a meeting with members of his Ministerial Cabinet at Lima's Government Palace.
The audience was intended to accelerate projects aimed at rehabilitating areas affected by Coastal El Niño phenomenon in the period comprised between January and March 2017.
Said weather event was characterized by heavy rains, landslides, and floods, which destroyed infrastructure and crops, leaving many citizens homeless.
The event saw the presence of
recently sworn-in Ministers Edmer Trujillo (Transport and Communications), Javier Pique (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation), and Authority for Reconstruction with Changes Chief Edgar Quispe.
The Reconstruction with Changes program relies on an investment program worth S/7.078 billion (about US$2.192 billion) for 2018. Said amount will enable the Government to implement 3,512 projects in 13 regions.
The Peruvian leader also stressed the need to finance and implement projects at a fast pace.
The Head of State finds it imperative to assist all victims of the weather phenomenon and resume the pending
reconstruction process.
