Peru President pledges constant interaction with Lima Mayor

14:29 | Lima, Oct. 9.

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed he will be in constant communication with the soon-to-be mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz, in order to confront and solve the capital city's issues together.

The remarks were made after a meeting they held at the Government Palace.

On the occasion, they were joined by Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva.

The gathering also featured heads of Transport and Communications; Housing, Construction, and Sanitation; Interior; as well as Development and Social Inclusion portfolios.

"We have to take advantage of October, November, and December to hold working group meetings so that we don't waste time in January when the mayor assumes this important responsibility," the Head of State expressed.

"Let's work together to solve Lima's major problems (…)," he added.

President Vizcarra reiterated his congratulations to Muñoz for his virtual win.

As is known, over 23 million Peruvians turned out at polling stations on Sunday to take part in regional and local elections across the Inca country.
