Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva on Monday affirmed the fight against poverty requires not only more investment, but also fundamental changes within the Inca country's structure.
According to him, this topic is crucial for the current administration.
"It (the fight against poverty) requires everyone's involvement (…), efforts to achieve structural changes, as well as necessary and important reforms," Villanueva affirmed.
The official explained Peru is currently in a phase of changes through the political-justice reform, components that have distinctive impacts on the fight against poverty.
Concerning the justice system, he explained, a real combat against corruption is necessary as this scourge drains billions of soles from the State.
"The political reform, on the other hand, is not necessarily connected to political parties or people, but to political institutions where important decisions are made (…)," Villanueva said.
He went on to add national economy will be protected thanks to these reforms since opportunities —specially jobs— can be created for the population as long as the economy is healthy and growing.
His remarks came as he attended the reinstatement of the Roundtable for the Fight against Poverty's (MCLCP) National Executive Committee held at the Government Palace.
"This reinstatement poses new challenges like providing an overview or changing some methodologies in the fight against poverty, in the presence of President Martin Vizcarra," he concluded.
