Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday participated in the launching of the Decade of Family Farming event in the capital city of Lima.
The Head of State attended the meeting to
recognize the value of national farmers and highlight their important contribution to the sustainable development and preservation of agrodiversity in the South American country.
According to the top official, the State-run AgroBanco will prioritize the attention to
small farmers.
Agrobanco is the State's main supporting tool aimed at guaranteeing the sustainable and constant development of the farming sector. It puts special emphasis on this area, including agro-industrial activities, as well as the processes for transformation, commercialization, and exportation of natural products emerged from the said sector.
"To achieve this, we have reoriented its objective, and now it has the necessary budget to boost productivity at competitive rates," the President expressed.
Mr. Vizcarra went on to add emphasis was placed on the
farming sector.
