Peru President greets teachers on their day, thanks their efforts amid pandemic

President Martin Vizcarra on Monday greeted Peruvian teachers on their day and thanked them for their efforts to continue teaching, via virtual classes, while facing difficult times amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Head of State acknowledged the selfless work of teachers, who had to change their teaching methods, despite the conditions imposed by the state of national emergency declared to contain the coronavirus.

"There are teachers who have taught in-person classes for 25 years and that, due to the pandemic, have to teach classes via distance learning. However, their vocation allowed them to adapt to these conditions and have not abandoned their students," he said.

Remarks were made during his visit to Lambayeque region, where led a handover ceremony of mechanical ventilators.

As part of the visit, the President met with local authorities and inspected IE Salaverry Temporary Hospital designed for the care of COVID-19 patients.
