Peru President: Congress intimidation acts justify early general elections proposal

10:49 | Lima, Sep. 5.

President Martin Vizcarra has affirmed Congress' intimidation acts —produced over the last three days— justify the early general elections initiative proposed by his administration.

Likewise, he indicated that —on top of that— Congress requested to investigate the creation of the Address to the Nation of July 28, the day on which he announced his administration's proposal to call for early elections

Furthermore, the statesman stressed Prime Minister Salvador del Solar presented solid arguments to Parliament's Constitution Commission yesterday.

Within this framework, President Vizcarra requested citizens to remain vigilant.

"This Congress has forgotten that its main job is to legislate. This new (Parliament) administration, which assumed the chairmanship on July 27, has not approved any laws and has summoned ministers countless times who diligently attend those invitations," he added.

On the other hand, the Head of State underlined his administration continues working for the well-being of Peru and recalled he has presented the Competitiveness and Productivity Plan, as well as the Infrastructure Plan in order to boost the economy.
