led on Wednesday the ceremony marking the change of command and recognition of Peruvian National Police (PNP) Lieutenant General Fredy Lopez Mendoza as the new General Commander.
The event took place at the PNP Higher Education School of Technical and Professional Training (EESTP) in Lima's Puente Piedra district.
The official ceremony also marked the end of PNP Lieutenant General Oscar Arriola's tenure.
Also attending were Cabinet Chief Luis Galarreta, as well as Ministers Cesar Astudillo (Interior), Rafael Belaunde (Defense), and senior police officials.
After 36 years of service, General Commander Lopez Mendoza assumes the institution's highest leadership role, having served as Chief of the PNP General Staff.
Lopez Mendoza graduated from the Officers' School in 1990, ranking second in his class.
He has built a career marked by leadership in operational, command, management, and advisory roles.
Throughout his career, Lopez Mendoza has held strategic positions, including Executive Secretary of the PNP, Director of Police Aviation, Chief of the Anti-Corruption Directorate, Deputy Director of Education and Doctrine, Chief of La Libertad Police Region, and Deputy to Peru's Police Attaché in the Kingdom of Spain, among other important institutional responsibilities.
In the academic field, he holds a master's degree in Political Science and Government, with a specialization in Public Management, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
He has also completed the Senior Command Program in Internal Order and Defense (PAMOID), as well as the General Staff Officers Course and the Advanced Captains Course.
With this change of command, the Government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the institutional leadership of the PNP.
It also seeks to consolidate a firm, coordinated strategy against delinquency and organized crime, in defense of the security of all Peruvians.
