on Saturday delivered a total of 40 tons of humanitarian aid to Piura region so that it can be distributed and meet the needs of citizens affected by heavy rains in northern Peru.
"We are here standing by our brothers from the north to attend to them in this critical situation caused by the Cyclone Yaku that has visited us; in about 3 or 4 more days there will be heavy rains, so we are going to be attentive, not only to Piura, Tumbes, Lambayeque, and La Libertad, but throughout Peru," she expressed.
"We will continue advancing region by region with what local authorities request from us, and we will immediately be ready to respond, not only providing aid, but also travelling on-site to address the problem," she affirmed.
Moreover, Mrs. Boluarte specified that Piura River does not have an outlet to the sea. Thus, it is necessary to carry out technical work with authorities "and start to assess this fundamental problem once and for all."
"Once we find an exit to the sea for Piura River, it will have a natural outlet, and this city will no longer become flooded," she said.
It was reported that 5 provinces and 37 districts in Piura region were affected by the overflow of rivers due to heavy rainfall.
