Peru PM: Jorge Chavez Int'l Airport to transport 35 million passengers by 2024

Peruvian Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos has affirmed that Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport will transport 35 million passengers per year by 2024.

According to the high-ranking official, this will be the result of the completion of the second runway and control tower, as well as the advanced platform by the end of 2021.

In this sense, he indicated that solid steps will continue to be taken in order to rely on two international airports.

Chinchero

Likewise, the cabinet chief mentioned that the second international airport will be the one located in Chinchero (Cusco region).

"This Government has signed, a few days ago, the technical assistance agreement with the Republic of Korea. Thus, we will have a top-level airport in operation by 2024," he expressed.

Air terminals

Furthermore, Zeballos underlined the actions undertaken with the purpose of improving services in diverse airports in the Inca nation, including the expansions of runways in the cities of Trujillo, Piura, and Chiclayo.

Port

Concerning ports, he pointed out progress of the modernization of the Pisco-based General San Martin Port Terminal is at 24%.

Metro

Regarding the Metro Line, the Prime Minister stated the works are moving forward and that one of the three pillars comprising the integrated transport network is being strengthened.

"For that reason, we are prioritizing the construction of Metro Line 2 in order to rely on five operational stations by 2021," he said.
