Peru PM: 2019 General Budget to be decentralized and balanced

12:18 | Lima, Nov. 28.

Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva on Wednesday affirmed the 2019 General Budget will be decentralized and balanced.

It should be noted the 2019 Public Budget bill —submitted by the Executive Branch to Parliament— amounts to S/168.074 billion (US$50.77 billion).

According to the high-ranking official, it has been increased compared to 2018 (S/157.158 billion; US$47.48 billion).

"We are boosting economic growth, especially investment in reconstruction," he expressed.

Said reconstruction is aimed at benefitting the country's northern areas in response to the 2017 Coastal El Niño phenomenon.

Joined by his cabinet, the Prime Minister arrived at Congress to participate in the corresponding plenary session to address the matter.
