Peru: Over one million people fully vaccinated against COVID-19

Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has reported that more than one million people in Peru are already vaccinated with both doses against COVID-19, adding that the immunization process led to reducing death rates.


"Concerning vaccination, more than one million people in Peru are already fully vaccinated; that means they have received both doses. To date, we have administered about 3.4 million doses against COVID-19, including 2.3 million first doses and more than one million second doses," she explained.

It must be noted that a new batch of 395,460 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses landed at Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport on Wednesday evening. A previous shipment of 396,630 doses from the same laboratory arrived on May 24, thus leading to a total of 792,090 doses for the current week.

The high-ranking official noted that there are currently a total of 2,784 ICU beds and more than 4,000 high-flow beds, for which the necessary personnel were hired, in addition to leading a process to acquire 800 additional beds.

Ms. Bermudez also reported that an Urgency Decree was approved on Wednesday's Council of Ministers session to strengthen the vaccination process, through an economic stimulus for personnel in charge of immunizations nationwide.
