Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has affirmed that the Transition and Emergency Government's current goal is to immunize approximately 700,000 adults over the age of 80 nationwide, following the startup of the new Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 last Friday.

In this sense, the high-ranking official —alongside Health Minister Oscar Ugarte, Deputy Public Health Minister Gustavo Rosell, and Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) Executive-President Fiorella Molinelli— supervised the campaigns at Campo de Marte and Parque de Las Leyendas (Lima), as well as at Fortaleza Real Felipe (Callao) on Saturday.

102,181 older adults were called between April 16 and 18, while the remaining 77,848 will be vaccinated between April 23 and 25.

Furthermore, Bermudez pointed out that any adult, who could not go to the vaccination locations on those dates, can do so on April 19 and 20.

The Prime Minister also stressed that it is important to ensure the vaccination of all the people over the age of 80, highlighting the support provided by the National Police and Armed Forces members.

"We must take complimentary measures," she remarked.
