Peru President: Rural Bonus to be delivered in cash to inaccessible areas

16:45 | Lima, Apr. 20.

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Monday afternoon reported that the Rural Bonus (worth each S/760=US$214) will be delivered in cash to residents of the most inaccessible areas of Peru.

"If they are in geographically distant places, security vans will arrive there and bring them money in cash (…)," he expressed.

The Head of State explained that the beneficiary households —which have access to State-run Banco de la Nacion branches or agents— will be able to collect their bonus there.

Likewise, the top official announced that this financial aid will start to be delivered next week.

The statesman also stressed that this financial aid will be granted to 1.098 million families.

Last Sunday, Urgency Decree No. 042-2020 made official the delivery of this economic aid to a significant number of households, most of which are dedicated to family farming.

On this occasion, the President was joined by some members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Monday marks the thirty-sixth day of mandatory social isolation.
