Peru: Non-traditional exports expanded 6.2% in Nov 2018

Peru's non-traditional exports totaled US$1.123 billion in November 2018, thus increasing 6.2% compared to the same month the previous year, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) informed.

Likewise, volume rose 13.1% underpinned by greater shipments from the farming, fishery, chemical, and textile sectors. However, the segment's total average price slid 6.1%. 

In this sense, sales of grapes (+39.9%), blueberries (+26%), asparagus (+2.6%), giant squid (+117.5%), and organic bananas (+33.5%) —among others— stood out. 

Top destinations were the European Union (18.5%), North America (2.9%), and Andean countries (3.9%). 

Among nations, the United States and the Netherlands stood out.
