Cesar Augusto Gentille Vargas was on Thursday morning sworn in by President Martin Vizcarra as the new Interior Minister of Peru.

The new Cabinet member is a General of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), where he has served for 34 years.

Additionally, he has served as Director General of Public Safety at the Interior Ministry.

Gentille holds a Master's Degree in Administration from Federico Villarreal University and a High Specialization Diploma in Strategic Intelligence —co-sponsored by the National Directorate of Intelligence (DINI)— from ESAN.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government Palace in Lima.
