The Board of Congress has been working on a series of legislative proposals containing topics for consensus among all parties so that —once it is ready— it can propose the Executive Branch a shared Country Agenda, Parliament Chairwoman Maria del Carmen Alva affirmed on Wednesday.

"According to article 29 of Congress regulations, this is what corresponds. We are working on that. Let's hope to have it ready next week," she added in remarks made before entering the Legislative Palace.

Once the parliamentary agenda is ready by consensus, the board will talk with Executive Branch members "to rely on a Country Agenda."

Cabinet presentation

Regarding the presentation of the Ministerial Cabinet on August 26 to address the Government's General Policy and request a vote of confidence, the Congress head projected that —at this time— "the main thing is to listen" to what its members have to say.

"Nobody has defined their vote," she estimated.

In her opinion, this presentation "should focus on one main point: economic reactivation, which is what currently concerns the entire population the most."

Alva also said she deemed it appropriate to make changes in the composition of the Cabinet.

"Not only have I asked for changes. They have been requested by the majority of parties in general and the population," she indicated, arguing that —according to the most recent survey by the Institute of Peruvian Studies— a high percentage is in favor of this option.

"Since we are representatives of the people, we had made that request once we met with both Prime Minister Guido Bellido and President Pedro Castillo," Alva recalled.
