Peru's Congress chair: We agree that economic reactivation and health are major issues

During the meeting held between Parliament Board members and the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo, it was agreed that economic recovery, health, education, and the fight against corruption are the most important issues which concern the population, Congress Chairwoman Maria del Carmen Alva reported on Thursday.

Via Twitter, Alva reported that the formal meeting with the Head of State was cordial.

"We agree on the concern on the most important issues to the population, such as economic recovery, health, education, and the fight against corruption," she wrote.

Likewise, the Parliament head reported that President Castillo expressed Peru Libre party's concern to the Board of Directors to evaluate a reconsideration of the Education Commission Chair's appointment.

The Head of State requested Congress officials to take into account the number of teachers who are members of the ruling party.

Accion Popular party was assigned the chairmanship of the Education, Youth and Sports Commission by agreement of the Board of Spokespersons of Congress.

"As appropriate, we have responded to the President, noting that we will forward the request to the spokespersons of benches so that —at the Board of Spokespersons and through the formal procedure— this proposal for reconsideration can be evaluated," she said. 

The top official and Parliament Board members —led by Maria del Carmen Alva— held a formal meeting this morning at the headquarters of Congress.
