Between January and July 2026, blueberry exports totaled US$620 million, despite high temperatures caused by El Niño phenomenon, the government institution indicated.
Exports totaled US$620.2 million, a 64.8% increase compared with the US$376.4 million recorded in the same period of 2025, according to Midagri.
Meanwhile, export volume reached 84,800 tons, up 45.1% from the 58,500 tons shipped abroad a year earlier.
Blueberries, along with avocados, fresh grapes, fresh mangoes, raw cacao beans, fresh asparagus, and other products, are among Peru's main non-traditional agricultural exports.
Higher prices
According to Midagri, Peru's blueberry exports recorded significant growth during the first seven months of 2026, driven by both an increase in shipment volumes and a higher average unit value.
"Nevertheless, exports remain highly concentrated in the main destination markets, particularly the United States," the government institution noted.
Destination markets
Regarding destination markets, the United States remained the leading buyer of Peruvian blueberries.
Exports to the U.S. totaled US$347.6 million (up 79.5% and accounting for 56% of total export value), according to Midagri.
The Netherlands ranked second (US$104.9 million and accounting for 16.9% of the total), followed by China (US$36.1 million, accounting for 5.8% of the total).
Together, these three markets represented approximately 78.7% of Peru's blueberry exports.

Growth was driven particularly by increased sales to the United States and the Netherlands, as well as strong momentum in June and July.
Nevertheless, exports remain highly concentrated in the main destination markets, particularly the United States.
Blueberry acreage
The blueberry industry spans 29,127 hectares. La Libertad region accounts for 12,888 hectares, followed by Lambayeque (7,519 hectares) and Ica (4,199 hectares).
Together, these three regions account for 84% of the South American country’s total blueberry-growing area.
Although northern Peru maintains its production dominance, Ica has recorded the strongest growth in new plantings.
According to Midagri figures, blueberry production in La Libertad region increased by 106% as of July this year, driven by a shift toward higher-yielding varieties and favorable weather conditions.
Meanwhile, production in Ica rose due to larger harvested areas and strong market demand.
2025 exports
Blueberry exports exceeded US$2.457 billion in 2025, totaling 373,514 tons, a volume 14.6% higher than in 2024.
The main destination markets were the United States, followed by the Netherlands, China, and emerging markets such as Taiwan, India, and Colombia.
