The Peruvian Benoit ‘Piccolo’ Clemente was crowned champion at the 2026 ISA World Longboard Championship, held at El Sunzal beach in El Salvador, claiming his second International Surfing Association (ISA) world title—his first having been won in 2019.

Surfing has once again written a historic chapter for Peruvian sports. In the men’s final, Piccolo scored 17.30 points, finishing ahead of Tony Silvagni from the United States (16.10) and Edouard Delpero from France (15.73).

World bronze for the team

Peru’s outstanding performance was also reflected in the overall national rankings, where the Peruvian longboard team earned the bronze medal.

Peru accumulated a total of 2,263 points to finish in third place. France took first place with 2,665 points, followed by the United States in second with 2,650.

The national team consisted of Piccolo Clemente, María Fernanda Reyes, Sebastián Cárdenas, and Noelia Arata, who represented the country during the international competition, supported by a technical staff comprising Oswaldo Vélez, Richard Navarrete, and Carlos Cruz.

The coordinated effort between the Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) and the National Surfing Federation (FENTA) has made such results possible—a significant achievement for Peruvian sports that highlights the competitive level of Peruvian longboarding on the international stage. Read the article
