Peru: Keiko Fujimori confirms meeting with President Balcazar for July 16

President-elect Keiko Fujimori confirmed an upcoming meeting with Head of State Jose Maria Balcazar on Thursday, July 16, at Government Palace in Lima.

Fujimori made the announcement to the press after President Balcazar asked to meet with her, following talks held this morning at the Fuerza Popular party headquarters.

"We exchanged various ideas. He gave me several pieces of advice and invited me to Government Palace next week, after the credentials presentation ceremony. We have tentatively agreed to meet on Thursday morning, and I would be going to the palace to continue this conversation," she noted.

The president-elect also reported that the transition teams have already begun their work and are gathering all the information from each of the ministries and from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

She also thanked President Balcazar for the willingness of each Executive Branch sector to hand over the information being gathered ahead of the start of the new administration.

In turn, the Head of State said that during this first meeting, held this morning, he reiterated his congratulations to the president-elect.

He also extended an invitation to continue the dialogue and exchange ideas at a future gathering at the Executive Branch headquarters.

"I wish her the very best in the future so that she may govern in favor of all Peruvians, without any exclusion," Balcazar expressed.
