Peru: Judiciary imposes travel ban on ex-Lima Mayor Castañeda

15:07 | Lima, Jul. 5.

Peru's Judicial Branch has ordered an 18-month travel ban against former Lima Mayor Luis Castañeda (2003-2010; 2015-2018), within the framework of an investigation related to alleged corruption offenses with Brazilian company OAS.

It imposed the same measure against entrepreneur and former lawmaker Jose Luna Galvez, who belonged to Solidaridad Nacional —the party founded by Castañeda.

Last Thursday, the Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group requested a 36-month travel ban against the former mayor in order to investigate alleged collusion, incompatible negotiation, and money-laundering offenses linked to the OAS case

Afterwards, the Judiciary notified the National Superintendence of Migrations about the measure against Castañeda and the others involved in the matter: Martin Bustamante, Giselle Zegarra, Jaime Villafuerte, and Bruno Lucchetti.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Castañeda allegedly favored OAS in the Linea Amarilla (Yellow Line) and Rio Verde Projects.
