Peru: Judiciary bans ex-Transportation Min from travelling abroad

18:07 | Lima, Sep. 23.

The Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation on Friday issued a 36-month ban on Geiner Alvarado that prevents him from leaving the country —within the framework of the investigation against him for allegedly being part of a criminal organization to the detriment of the Peruvian State.

"There are elements of conviction that support the prosecutorial requirement against the investigated citizen," reads the resolution signed by Judge Juan Carlos Checkley.

Alvarado is being investigated for the alleged awarding of public works in an irregular manner, when he served as head of the Ministry of Housing and Construction —several of them in favor of the Municipality of Anguia in Cajamarca region.

The resolution also provides for the National Superintendence of Migrations to be notified so that the measure gets registered and police units nationwide become informed about the judicial decision.

In this regard, the superintendence reported that it has registered the restrictive alert on Geiner Alvarado at the migration or border checkpoints run by the entity.
