The Government of Peru has approved a transfer of S/381,326,960 (around US$106.1 million) for the payment of the Universal Bonus worth S/760 (US$223) to vulnerable families, whose economy has been affected by the isolation and social immobilization measures decreed to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 infection.
The
Urgency Decree No. 116-2020, published on Sunday in
El Peruano official gazette, provides that said transfer will be made to the
Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) in order to finance the payment of the Universal Bonus from the
Development and Social Inclusion Ministry (Midis) budget resources.
The financial grant is aimed at households in a situation of poverty or extreme poverty according to the Household Focalization System (SISFOH).
In addition, it is aimed at households with beneficiaries of the National Program of Support to the Poorest "Juntos" (Together), the National Solidarity Assistance Program "Pension 65," and the National Non-contributory Pension Program for People with Severe Disability in Situation of Poverty "CONTIGO" (With You), which are run by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis.)
Moreover, the subsidy will benefit those households —which are not included in the abovementioned categories— whose members are not enrolled in the Computer Application for the Centralized Registry of Payroll and Data of Public Sector Human Resources (AIRHSP), or are not on the private payroll, with the exception of pensioners and the job training mode.
