Presidential candidates
Keiko Fujimori (Fuerza Popular) and
Pedro Castillo (Peru Libre) presented their proposals on Saturday afternoon at Chota's Main Square, located in Cajamarca region, in the northern highlands of the country.
Castillo arrived in Chota —a city located 2,388 m.a.s.l.— in the morning, while Fujimori arrived from Amazonas region at 1:00 p.m.
The debate covered five topics: economic reactivation, public safety, fight against corruption, health in the face of the pandemic, and education.
Each candidate was granted five minutes to speak on the agreed topics and was able to give a reply.
The debate was moderated by local journalists Carlos Idrogo and Henry Clark.
In recent days, both Keiko Fujimori and Pedro Castillo expressed their willingness to debate their proposals ahead of the runoff election.
