Peru: Foreign tourist arrivals in Cusco up 6.3% between Jan-Oct 2018

Peru's Cusco region has welcomed 1.9 million foreign tourists between January and October 2018, thus increasing 6.3% over the same period last year, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) informed Thursday.

Citizens from the following countries posted the greatest positive changes in visitor flows: the United States (493,000 sightseers), France (118,000), Spain (76,000), and China (36,000). 

On the other hand, visits from Argentina (98,000) and Chile (69,000) registered the largest declines.

Machu Picchu 

Likewise, BCR indicated the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu has welcomed 1.482 million tourists in the aforementioned period, a 12.4% rise compared to the same term in 2017 (1.318 million).

This result was underpinned by a 15.3% increase in foreign tourist arrivals, thus recording 1.153 million.
