Peru: Cusco, the best city to visit in Central, South America

The majestic city of Cusco has been named top destination in Central and South America by Travel+Leisure magazine, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) highlighted Thursday.

According to readers' votes and comments, Cusco stands out due to its rich history, proximity to the Andes, and beautiful architecture.

The excellence of Peruvian cuisine was also mentioned by several voters. One of them affirmed it is "the best in the world."

It must be noted the Imperial City of the Incas leaves behind destinations such as Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Antigua (Guatemala), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Bogota (Colombia).


Best Hotels

On the other hand, four Peru-based establishments ranked among the Top 100 Hotels in the World.

Inkaterra La Casona holds the fourth position in this category, as well as the first on The Top 10 City Hotels in Central and South America list.

Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba (14th), Tambo del Inka (35th), and Sol y Luna (91th) were also included in the worldwide ranking.
