Peru: Foreign tourist arrivals in Cusco up 7.5% between Jan-Sep 2018

Cusco region has welcomed 1.7 million foreign tourists between January and September 2018, thus increasing 7.5% over the similar period last year, Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) informed.

The countries, which posted the greatest positive changes in visitor flows, were the United States (58,488 sightseers), China (10,538), France (9,939), and Spain (8,870). 

On the other hand, Argentina (-13,250) and Chile (-6,366) registered the largest declines. 

Machu Picchu 

Likewise, BCR indicated the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu has welcomed 1.2 million (domestic and foreign) tourists in the aforementioned period, a 13.1% rise compared to the same term in 2017. 

International visitor flows posted the highest expansion (+15.6%) between January and September 2018, while national's inflow increased 4.7%.
