Peru FA Min highlights need to coordinate Lima Group political-diplomatic action

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra on Friday stressed the need to coordinate the Lima Group's political-diplomatic action with the aim of favoring credible negotiations that enable a solution to the political and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, adding it must be in line with regional and hemispheric values.

The diplomat participates in the inauguration of the 26th Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Lima Group held in Brasilia.

The meeting aims to analyze options concerning a peaceful and democratic solution to the crisis in the Bolivarian nation.

The former Ambassador to the UN also highlighted the need to relaunch the Lima Group in constructive and pragmatic terms, promoting convergence with other actors, such as the International Contact Group, for the search for a solution to the Venezuelan problem.

The Lima Group is composed of: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Santa Lucia, and Venezuela (Guaido administration).

It was created in the Peruvian capital city in August 2017 with the aim of finding a solution to the Venezuelan crisis.
