Peru FA Min announces relaunching of Lima Group

11:12 | Brussels (Belgium), Oct. 29.

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra on Tuesday announced the Lima Group will be re-launched with new ideas and initiatives in order to find a solution to the Venezuelan crisis, as well as call for legitimate and transparent elections and put pressure on Nicolas Maduro's illegitimate regime.

According to the official, this group —composed of diverse countries of the region— played a significant role in drawing the attention of the international community to the issue affecting the Bolivarian nation.

"We will hold a meeting on November 7, the first one in which I will participate. Our goal is to re-launch the Lima Group with new ideas and initiatives. We must work with the International Contact Group, there are many ideas, and we are not closed to consider others," he told RPP TV and radio station.

In this sense, Meza-Cuadra explained there are a series of elements that unite the members of the group. They are the commitment to guaranteeing a legitimate and transparent election in Venezuela.

The minister currently participates in the International Solidarity Conference on the Venezuelan Refugee and Migrant Crisis taking place in the Belgian city of Brussels.

Within this framework, he indicated that this gathering is aimed at urging the international community to contribute to the efforts undertaken by Venezuela's neighboring countries.
