Peru FA Min to attend conference on Venezuelan crisis

12:54 | Lima, Oct. 26.

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra will travel to Brussels (Belgium) in order to participate in the International Solidarity Conference on the Venezuelan Refugee and Migrant Crisis to take place on October 28-29.

According to the supreme resolution —published in El Peruano official gazette— the high-ranking official will be overseas on October 26-30.

This meeting is aimed at sending a solidarity message —in political and economic terms— from the international community to the countries that receive Venezuelans, including Peru.

The document indicated that the participation of the Peruvian official is necessary, as the Inca country is the second-largest recipient of Venezuelan migrants after Colombia

During Minister Meza-Cuadra's absence, Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva will take over the Foreign Affairs portfolio.

The document was signed by President Martin Vizcarra and Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos.
