Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that the Government of Germany deployed a mission of medical experts to the South American country and made a donation of ventilators, as well as emergency medical supplies to help tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the Peruvian Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the German counterpart for the donation that will be allocated to the hospitals belonging to the Navy and Air Force, as well as to other medical centers.

The cooperation also includes equipment and support to convert three Armed Forces helicopters into air ambulances.

This important support is delivered by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in recognition of the commitment and efforts undertaken by the Peruvian Armed Forces in the fight against COVID-19.

The medical experts' mission will remain in Peru for several months and work with the National Health Institute, as well as with the Ministries of Health, Defense, and other national entities in comprehensive developments to face and mitigate the pandemic at the national level —with emphasis on Lima, Piura, and Loreto regions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specified that these actions are part of the "Stella Maris C-19" Microproject directly financed by the German Embassy in Lima; and the "CoronaVent" Project, financed by the Government of Germany and private institutions.

The Ministry also underlined that such actions reflect the high level of the bilateral relations uniting Peru and Germany, as well as the shared efforts to provide a joint response to this pandemic.
