Peru FA Min attends Canada-hosted Lima Group meeting on Venezuela crisis

Members of the Lima Group, including Peru, are taking part in the 10th ministerial meeting of the Lima Group in Ottawa, Canada.


According to a Supreme Resolution —published in El Peruano official gazette— the official will be outside the Inca country on February 3-5.

The gathering brings together the foreign ministers of the following Lima Group countries: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Saint Lucia.

As stated by Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry, the event is intended to reiterate the illegitimate nature of Nicolas Maduro's dictatorial regime

Likewise, the Lima Group will adopt measures to support the transition government to conduct free and fair elections in line with international standards.

Foreign affairs ministers and high-level representatives from across the region and European countries that have thrown their support behind Venezuela's interim leader are expected to meet as well. 

The Group is expected to make a political statement to reaffirm its support for Juan Guaido and explore ways in which the international community can further support the people of Venezuela.
