Peru is among the top 10 destinations in the Americas with the strongest momentum in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) tourism, according to the 2025 ranking by the International Congress and Convention Association, the
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) highlighted.
Peru ranked eighth in the Americas after hosting 93 international and regional congresses, representing an 111.4% expansion compared to 2023 and 52.5% versus 2024.
"These results confirm the interest in Peru as a venue for large-scale events, thanks to its rich gastronomy, cultural heritage, and diverse tourism offerings," Deputy Tourism Minister Aracelly Laca said.
"Besides, they position the country as a competitive destination with strong potential for the development of MICE tourism," she added.
The official highlighted that Mincetur and the Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) continue fostering initiatives to consolidate the country as a regional hub for congresses and meetings, while strengthening the sector's value chain.

Lima stands out as MICE destination
Another ranking in the same report placed Lima as the third-most dynamic city in the Americas for meetings tourism in 2025.
The Peruvian capital reached that position after posting a historic 67.4% increase compared to 2024 and hosting 72 international congresses.
This performance allowed Lima to surpass major destinations in the region, such as Mexico City, Sao Paulo (Brazil), and Bogota (Colombia).

The ranking of the Americas' most dynamic cities for MICE tourism, which includes more than 2,400 destinations, likewise features Cusco, Arequipa, Piura, Chiclayo, Juliaca, and Puno.
"Through PromPeru, we are coordinating a series of initiatives with national convention bureaus, professional associations, academia, and companies to strengthen the positioning of these emerging MICE destinations," the deputy tourism minister explained.
According to Mincetur, MICE travelers spend an average of US$1,321, an amount higher than that generated by leisure tourists.
Nearly 40% of people attending international congresses later return to Peru for vacation purposes.
