The Presidential Meeting and 13th
Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet will be held on November 6-7 in northern Tumbes region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Wednesday.
The thematic axes proposed are:
1. Social and cultural issues.
2. Production, trade, investment, and tourism-related issues.
3. Environmental, energy, and mining issues.
4. Infrastructure and connectivity.
5. Security and defense.
Likewise, they seek to implement concrete solutions on management, use, and decontamination of water resources in border river basins.
This Binational Cabinet will serve to strengthen coordinated surveillance measures, including unauthorized steps in order to combat: human trafficking, smuggling of migrants, illegal mining, and smuggling of goods.
The two nations seek to promote sustained and comprehensive actions in the fight against illegal mining. Thus, the first Meeting of the Mixed Commission to Combat Illegal Mining shall be convened within this framework.
