Peru, Chile presidents open 3rd Binational Cabinet

Presidents Martin Vizcarra (Peru) and Sebastian Piñera (Chile) on Thursday opened the 3rd Binational Cabinet taking place in Paracas (Ica region).

On the occasion, they were accompanied by their respective State ministers. 

The gathering will address five thematic axes: i) Social issues and culture for integration; ii) Security and defense; iii) Foreign trade, investments, tourism, as well as cooperation in science and technology; iv) Environment, sustainable development, as well as energy and mining issues and; (v) Border development and integration, as well as infrastructure issues.


Earlier, the Peruvian leader welcomed his Chilean counterpart, with whom he met to discuss bilateral relations. 

The Presidential Declaration of Paracas will be signed after the Binational Cabinet is over.

The accords adopted in Paracas will be the result of a year of work between the technical bodies of 18 Peruvian and 23 Chilean ministries. 

It must be noted Binational Cabinets constitute a mechanism for political dialogue between two nations with the purpose of working on specific issues of common concern included in the bilateral agenda.
