11:00 | Cusco (Cusco region), Dec. 28.

The development of Chinchero International Airport is one of the Peruvian Transport and Communications Ministry's main objectives, its head Edmer Trujillo said.

To reaffirm the will for dialogue, the minister on Friday met with Yanacona community representatives and Cusco Region Government authorities in the Southern Andean region, with the aim of informing them about the work schedules of infrastructure projects and commitments assumed.

Trujillo announced that a work team will be established to monitor compliance with the execution and complementary projects of the Chinchero International Airport that allow a harmonious development in the region. He said the next meeting will be held in January 2020.

The Ministry works in an articulated manner with the three levels of government to progressively meet the needs of the population in Chinchero, Huayllabamba, and Cusco.

In addition, it remains in constant dialogue with the local population and rural communities involved in the future airport.

The construction process has already begun and will not stop until it is put into operation, which is estimated by the end of 2024.
