Coca Valley welcomed 121,854 tourists between January and June 2018, up by more than 8% from the same period last year, thus consolidating its position as the most-visited destination in southern Arequipa region.

According to Colca Autonomous Authority (Autocolca) Manager David Valdivia, tourist inflow was positive over the past three months, since the figures recorded in said term were higher than those of 2017.

Within this context, the State-run organization stepped up its efforts to promote tourism in Colca Valley, both at national and international levels.

It must be noted 255,108 people visited the valley in 2017, a figure that will be surpassed this year.

In this regard, the representative estimated Colca Valley will welcome a total of 280,000 tourists thru year-end.

As is known, this Peruvian destination received a record number of 32,919 and 33,421 visitors in July and August 2017, respectively.

In order to surpass said figures, domestic and foreign tourists will be invited to visit the area during the Inca country's Independence Day holidays (July 28-29) and Arequipa's anniversary celebrations.
