Peru, Chile leaders meet in Santiago

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra and Chilean counterpart Sebastian Piñera take part in a Presidential Meeting prior to the 2nd Binational Cabinet between the two neighboring countries.

Upon arrival at La Moneda Palace, official delegations extended a welcome to Vizcarra, who was received by Piñera.

Afterward, the band of the Granaderos presidential guard played the national anthems of both nations.

The purpose of the 2nd Peru-Chile Binational Cabinet is to strengthen bilateral ties through concrete actions.

The working agenda will address topics in social, health, culture, economic-trade, environment, energy and mining, infrastructure, connectivity, and security fields.

The program will also include priority issues such as the fight against violence towards women, fight against corruption, equality and inclusion, as well as productive development.

The mechanism of Presidential Meetings and Binational Cabinets between Peru and Chile provides a space for high-level dialogue and coordination.

The first gathering took place on 7 July 2017 and marked a milestone in the relationship between both nations.
