Peru, Chile leaders to chair 2nd Binational Cabinet in Santiago

10:24 | Santiago (Chile), Nov. 27.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra and Chilean counterpart Sebastian Piñera on Tuesday will head the 2nd Peru-Chile Binational Cabinet in Santiago in order to strengthen bilateral ties through concrete actions.

The working agenda will address topics in social, health, culture, economic-trade, environment, energy and mining, infrastructure, connectivity, and security fields.

The program will also include priority issues such as the fight against violence towards women, fight against corruption, equality and inclusion, as well as productive development.

The mechanism of Presidential Meetings and Binational Cabinets between Peru and Chile provides a space for high-level dialogue and coordination.

The first gathering took place on 7 July 2017, and marked a milestone in the relationship between both nations, thus embarking on a new journey in multi-sectoral cooperation.

Such initiatives seek joint actions that have a direct impact on the quality of life and well-being of both populations.

According to Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry, this Cabinet is held annually and concludes with a series of commitments to complete works —in both countries— within the following year.
