Peru Libre's economic adviser Pedro Francke on Monday confirmed that the party's
presidential candidate Pedro Castillo held a conversation with Central Reserve Bank (BCR) Governor Julio Velarde, adding that they will hold a meeting later.
"It is correct. We have held a conversation with him, and we agreed to continue with the conversation later," Francke said in an interview with Radio Exitosa.
The economic adviser assured that he and Castillo had a brief conversation with Velarde, with whom they agreed to schedule a formal appointment once the
National Election Board (JNE) announces the official election results.
"In fact, he said that he is already a bit tired and will think about it. So, we agreed to talk later, after Pedro Castillo's official proclamation, in order to set up a formal meeting," he remarked.
The economist affirmed that institutionalism is above people, adding that anyone can play an important role and —at the same time— may not be indispensable to a government team.
"Institutionalism is the most important thing (...) we are all necessary in a society, we can all play a role in a government team," he said.
Last Saturday during a rally, Castillo said that he hopes that
Julio Velarde will continue to lead the Central Reserve Bank (BCR). He has been the BCR's Governor since 2006.
