Peru: Business expectations recovered in March 2021

Business expectation indicators experienced recovery in March 2021, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has reported.

It should be noted that 16 indicators —out of a total of 19— were placed in the optimistic segment, while this figure was only of 9 during the previous month.

According to the issuing entity, expectations for the 3-month economy improved in March and stood at 51 points, 7 points above than that registered in the previous month. 

At 12 months, expectations increased from 61 to 66 points, it said.

Last March, expectations on the situation of respondents' companies in 3 months and in 12 months rose to 54 and 68 points, after recording 49 and 65 points, respectively, in February.

As regards the demand for their products, respondents' expectations for 3 and 12 months increased to 54 and 67 points, respectively, in March versus the 51 and 65 points registered in February.

Likewise, in March expectations of hiring intentions in 3 months increased from 47 to 48 points from February to March, while at 12 months these remained at 55 points.

Expectations of their companies' investment in 3 months increased from 46 points in February to 51 points in March, while expectations of investment in 12 months increased from 57 to 62 points.
