Peruvian Ambassador Benjamin Chimoy presented credential letters to Kazakhstan's State Secretary Gulshara Abdykalikova, the Andean country's Foreign Affairs Ministry reported Monday.
Such credentials recognize the appointment of Chimoy as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
After extending President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's greetings to Abdykalikova, the diplomat expressed his government's willingness to strengthen friendship and cooperation ties binding both countries.
On her part, the hosting country's representative praised the Inca nation for its recent designation as a non-permanent member of the United Nations (UN) Security Council for the 2018-2019 period.
While in Astana, the Peruvian ambassador also held a working meeting with Kazakh Foreign Affairs Ministry's Department of the Americas Director Bulat Sugurbayev, in order to boost bilateral relations, as well as grasp the potential both nations have in common.
As is known, Chimoy also serves as Peruvian Ambassador to
Armenia and
Russia, while based in Moscow.
