Addressing his followers gathered outside his campaign venue in Lima on Tuesday night, Castillo expressed gratitude to the people who showed their support for him during the campaign and voted for his political group.
"Once again, I ask you to be vigilant of the popular will; thank you for this citizen vigilance," said the teacher, who also urged his followers not to fall into any kind of provocation.
Castillo, 51, stated that an eventual government will be respectful of democracy and the current Constitution.
The candidate added that he will lead a government administration respectful of financial-economic stability for the benefit of the entire country and its citizens.
He also thanked the personalities and representatives of various countries who have saluted the results of this second round.
