The prestigious American newspaper The New York Times’ Travel site highlights “The North Coast of Peru” as one of its “Top 52 Places to Go in 2015”.

“Untrammeled oases beckon, once-avoided destinations become must-sees and familiar cities offer new reasons to visit,” says the website.

Occupying place 18, after Tanzania, the journal suggest a trip to Northern city of Trujillo “near important archaeological sites like the adobe city of Chan Chan and the Moche pyramid complexes of Sipán and El Brujo.”

Other sites, as the Chaparri Reserve, in the Lambayeque region is “a habitat for highly threatened Andean spectacle bears, will have a bit of pop-cultural relevance this year with the release of a Paddington Bear film,” it forecasted.

The articles also suggest visiting the “surf village of Mancora” where “community-based tourism projects like sport-fishing and whale-watching charters at nearby Cabo Blanco.” At this beach Ernest Hemingway used to go fishing.

The first three positions were taken by: 1. Milan (Italy), 2. Cuba, and 3. Philadelphia (USA).
It must be noted The New York Times Travel site has more than 89,000 followers on Facebook. The official newspaper is followed by over 9 million people.
