The life of the Peruvian World War Second heroine, Madeleine Truel, who joined the French resistance and helped Jews escape the German occupying force, will be brought to the big screen by a Hollywood-based producer.

The above story is one of several profiles which were by first time unveiled by the Peruvian writer and journalist Hugo Coya Honores as part of his research book titled “Estación Final” (Last Stop).

The non-fiction book, published in 2010 by Editorial Aguilar, part of the Santillana group, reveals the lives of twenty-three Peruvians who were victims of the Jewish Holocaust inflicted by the infamous Nazi regime and its war machine.

“All of them were Jews, except Truel who professed the Catholic faith,” the 54-year-old author said in statements to Andina news agency.

Born in 1904 in the Peruvian capital Lima, she turned a courageous servicewoman in the Nazi-occupied France by forging for Jews and refugees travel documents to neighboring nations and overseas or moving them to safe houses.

"The case of this resistance heroine represents an utmost example of human solidarity," Coya said when asked for the reason why he decided to pay tribute to Truel's extraordinary story.

In June, 1944, Madeleine was taken by the German police force and was tortured and imprisoned. In early 1945, she was deported to the Sachenhausen concentration camp, where she died on May 3, just four days before the German surrender.

"She is the only individual from Latin America whom France considered as a heroin of the resistance against the Nazi occupation,” the veteran man of press found when he was searching for historical background information.

The movie rights for this book were picked up by Transcendent Entertainment, a Los Angeles-headquartered distribution company.

The writer has been encouraged to release next year a book based only on the Peruvian heroine as he has found more information of Truel's tourching story following the publication of "Last Stop".

Coya told the press earlier this year that he had been in talks with the above-mentioned producer, linked with Warner Bros, for over two years. Those talks have been successful as the journalist recently confirmed the news through his twitter account.

The official announcement will be made at a press conference on August 14 at the Cultural Center of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP) within the framework of the upcoming Lima Film Festival.
