Within this framework, the official urged citizens to put violent attitudes aside and let peace rule.
Salas stressed that the JNE, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), and the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) work and ensure that results translate into the free, authentic, and spontaneous expression of all citizens.
In this regard, the official reiterated that national and international observation missions have recognized that the second electoral round developed freely and transparently, complying with international standards.
Likewise, the chairman explained that more than 16,000 auditors throughout Peru supervised compliance with electoral regulations at polling places, ensuring the legality of the process.
Along the same lines, Salas said the JNE agreed that —exceptionally— the deliberation sessions to address the appeals of the contested voting records be made public.
Moreover, he indicated that Special Electoral Boards (JEE) will have at their disposal the JNE channel, on YouTube, to broadcast vote challenge hearings.
Remarks were made during the ceremony to issue credentials to the 130 citizens elected lawmakers for the 2021-2026 term.
