The new and modern National Stadium in Peru's capital Lima will be re-inaugurated on Sunday in the presence of the national football team who claimed third place at the 2011 Copa America in Argentina.
The Peruvian team, who beat Venezuela 4-1 to take the South American tournament's bronze medal, is to arrive in Lima at 18.00 hours (23.00 GMT) and proceed by motorcade to the National Stadium for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
President Alan Garcia on Saturday sent the presidential plane to Argentina to bring back La Blanquirroja in time for today's gala event, where they will be honored for their outstanding participation in the July 1-24 tournament.
The ceremony will be attended by local authorities, students and teachers from several public schools around the city and members of the Peruvian National Police.
The multi-purpose stadium's natural grass field will be officially inaugurated with an exhibition match between the U-20 teams of Peru and Spain, starting at 20.00 hours.
