CNN Travel includes Peru in a dozen destination ideas

13:01 | Lima, Jun. 1.

The impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco and the city of Lima, which stands out for its gastronomy, are two of the Peruvian tourist attractions highlighted by CNN, in a story that recommends 12 international destinations to go in the upcoming summer break of the northern hemisphere, in which Peru has a special place.

The summer season is just about to begin in the northern hemisphere, on June 21, and many travelers from northern countries are already looking for a place to spend their holidays.

In light of this, CNN Travel recommends 12 must-visit destinations with wonderful tourist attractions. This list includes Peru.

Why Peru?

The article indicates that the U.S. dollar is strong in this South American country and that Peruvians are welcoming travelers back with open arms.

Moreover, it highlights the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas, a World Heritage Site that UNESCO calls probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its height.

On the other hand, CNN says that Lima is notorious for its world-renowned dining scene.

The best place around the globe

This is not the first media outlet that highlights the Sacred Valle of the Incas' cultural heritage and natural beauty.

In December last year, the prestigious international magazine Condé Nast Traveller chose Ollantaytambo —an Incan city located in the heart of Cusco's Sacred Valley of the Incas— as one of the best places to go in 2023.

The thousand-year-old town, known as the "living Inca city" and home to one of the most visited archaeological parks in Peru, was included in the list of "The 23 Best Places to Go in 2023."

Said list also includes Argentina, the United States, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Morocco, among others.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas is home to a wide variety of tourist attractions, including the archaeological parks of Chinchero, Pisaq, and Maras, as well as the archaeological site of Moray and Peru's crown jewel, Machu Picchu.

Lima holds a charm all its own

The Peruvian capital also captured the world's attention. For example, Matador Network —a U.S. travel media company— has recently published an article that highlights the good air connectivity from New York City to Lima.

Direct flights last between 7 and 8 hours, which facilitates the flow of passengers and promotes tourism to the Andean nation.

Furthermore, the article describes Lima, not only as a stopover to Cusco and Machu Picchu, but also as a city that holds a charm all its own.

"Avid surfers from all over the globe flock to Lima's beaches as the Peruvian city is among the most underrated surfing destinations in the world (and one of the birthplaces of the sport)," it states.

Likewise, Matador Network noted the innovative street art and galleries in the neighboring district of Barranco, as well as the bars and restaurants of the popular Miraflores district, described as home to some of the city's best nightlife.

Additionally, the publication states that Larco Museum has fascinating exhibits on the nation's pre-Columbian history.
