A delegation of experts from the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm arrived in the Peruvian capital Lima on Wednesday with the inactivated batch of vaccines (Phase 3) to be subjected to clinical trials in volunteers, Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti has reported.

According to the Cabinet member, an assessment will be made, and those who are eligible will join the clinical trials to start the vaccine testing process. Afterwards, the vaccine side effects and effectiveness will be measured.

Dr. Mazzetti indicated that the accreditation and formality process for these trials has been part of the main work of the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

"We are here to support the development of this Phase 3 trial, as well as other trials that may come. But this is the first one and has profound significance to us because we are streamlining the entire process component, without overlooking the quality control which is required," she stressed.

"The ambassador and the Chinese people have been with us since the beginning, because only by standing together we will be able to resist (…)," she concluded.
